FAMILY RUNNING FESTIVAL

Four races for all abilities

We are proud to announce that we will have four races to cater for all ages and abilities. That means every member of the family can get their trainers on. From the racer in your gang to Grandma taking a toddler down to the finish line.

Please note only our 10k, 5k and Two-Looper will be timed.

(app timing system - not chipped)

THE 10k
(age 16+)

The headline 10k run will take place at 9:30am and will be two 5k laps of mixed off and on road running around the stunning village of West Chiltington in West Sussex.

The route will snake through the lanes and countryside before crossing through the immaculate grounds of Nyetimber Vineyard. Thanks to their special permission this is certain to be a spectacular section of the run.

Kids Running

THE 5k
(age 13+)

One lap of our scenic route will start and finish at the Cricket Club and take in some glorious views along the way and don’t worry you’ll still get to run through the vineyard. U13 runners must be accompanied by an adult.

The Two-Looper (1.2k, open to all)

We’re staying in the cricket field for this one. This is a flat race on a great surface next to our festival base at the Cricket Club. Perfect if you’re coming back to fitness, starting out on your running journey or just big enough to make the distance.

Kids Running

The Tiddler
(200m, open to all)

The tiddler for the tiddlers. We hope that your little one will be able to take part and make the distance. We are hopeful that our Green Class (reception) stars will lead the way on the day.

Illustrated Map

Please note that depending on the number of entries the 5k and 10k may have wave starts. The 5k will complete one loop of our trail route while the 10k runners will complete it twice.

ABOUT US

The Family Running Festival is a community event run by FOSA, the Friends of the School Association, which is the fundraising charity for West Chiltington Primary School. Our aim, as a registered charity, is to deliver fundraising initiatives to support the aims of our school and to expand the experiences of the pupils.

At FOSA's heart is a small committee of volunteers, supported by class representatives and other parents, school staff and members of the community. Anybody is welcome to join at any time. The FOSA committee consists of current Co-Chair: Alex Cotton and Jemima Mead and Treasurer: Natalie Brown.

We pride ourselves in having a very active and dedicated parent-led fundraising group, including Family Running Festival organisers and avid runners Becky Jones and Myrid Ramsay.

GET INVOLVED!

We need volunteers to help us with all sorts of roles on the day. From marshalls to help with car parking. If you can spare some time to help make our fundraising event a success please email us at

COMING FROM FURTHER AWAY?

West Chiltington is a beautiful West Sussex village nestling at the foot of the South Downs. You could be walking the Downs and want to linger and run with us or you may be staying nearby to be with family or friends, if so, here are some links to places you can stay nearby when our running event is on… and even when it’s not.

You may also want to stay for lunch after the event.
Please see these links to make coming to visit us for our running event nice and easy:

There will be a range of food and drinks stalls available on the day.

PARKING

Parking is limited in the village, please car share wherever possible to reduce disruption.

Parking is available at the reception ground car park. There is no parking available at the smaller village hall car park for this event.

Please fill your car with runners on the day to help keep congestion and pollution to a minimum, thank you.

LITTER

Our village is beautiful and we aim to leave it even cleaner than when we found it. Please use the bins provided and if possible take your litter home with you. Thank you!

SAFETY

We discourage the use of headphones as this may compromise runner safety. If essential to your enjoyment we politely request you wear only one earbud to ensure you can hear instructions.

Epipens, if necessary, must be carried for the duration of the run for your safety.

Our event will be fully supported by Marshalls along the route and St. John’s Ambulance first aiders at the start/finish point.
